Ken: I have just returned from an inner passage cruise. Naturally I saw lots of beautiful country, but I also wanted to learn something of the people. Your "To Live on this Earth" was my mentor. Thank you. I notice that the book's publisher is in Albuquerque. That's where we live, so if you're this way and need a place to throw-down for the night, you're welcome to stay with us and share some beans and tortillas.

Rebecca Albert - Monday, July 14th, 2008 5:25 PM

Hey Ken--Fiddling Poets on Parade is the mandatory car CD on the way to daycare now. Angeline the Baker, Cluck Old Hen, and "Blurp song" (Ah Ha Ha), are Linden's favorites; we also sing "Oh Grandpa Oh Grandpa Carvin up the turkey" all the time (some days I can't get it out of my head). Thank you so much! Hope to jam with you in Rochester soon.

Hello Ken,
You visited Rosa Parks High School in NJ about 2 years ago and my class really enjoyed your performance. I was just wondering when you will be returning to New Jersey and if you would be interested in visiting with my 9th graders. I really enjoyed your last visit. Please let me know.
P.S. My parents cruised to Alaska last summer and LOVED it!
Hope to hear from you soon.

I was at the performance you did at the Arkadelphia High School for Mr. Sivils. I was intrigued by 'Burn Down House'. I was the lady who asked you about your first poem you ever wrote. Thank you for coming to our school.

Natasha Sweet - Monday, April 16th, 2007 11:00 AM
I live in Haines, Ak and I just want to say that you've inspired me as a musician and poet. I've seen you a couple times in Skagway. Also, while walking down Broadway I heard you music drifting down the street and I've been hooked ever since. Thank you, Ken. You've opened my eays to the beautiful world of music.

Stacey Rollins - Saturday, April 14th, 2007 6:23 PM
I just wanted to say again thanks for your wonderful reading and discussion with me and my husband about Alaska after your reading. I am excited that Southeast Missouri State University has the benefit of such great poets like you.

In fact, my husband wrote his first poem about camping today. And you know what it was actually good--he is very creative and eager to try new things--he is a great inspiration to me.

I hope this dream of moving to Alaska comes true. Thanks again.

sue spencer - Friday, March 30th, 2007 6:29 PM
Hi Ken,
Great to meet you and play music last night, at Sir Ben's in Duluth. Hope to make it to your concert Tuesday, at St. Scholastica.

Rajean Gallagher - Friday, March 30th, 2007 4:11 PM
Though your calendar doesn't reflect it, I thought I'd ask--perhaps, beg--for you to come back to Illinois?

T. Hyrkas - Sunday, March 25th, 2007 5:20 PM
Dear Mr. Waldman,

Thank you for coming to the Elk River Library on Sat March 24, 2007. My husband and I and three of our grandchildren were able to attend your poetry and music presentation, which made their visit with us a very memorable time.

You asked a question that we talked about later; you asked "Do you know what makes me a writer?". Part of your answered suggested that you are a writer because you always carry pens and paper with you. Then you read some wonderful poems written by children, and some wonderful poems written by you, too. During the weekend, the grandchildren received a notebook and a pen, and we talked again about what helps to make a person a writer, and the kids agreed that now they were writers, too. What an inspiration you were to them! Both Devin and Haley had written a poem in their notebooks before they returned home, and Morgan drew some very happy pictures.

Thank you for sharing your talent and your inspiring words with us.

Sincerely,

John and Teri Hyrkas

Barbara Hume - Saturday, February 24th, 2007 3:48 PM
Hello Ken,

I really enjoyed reading your bio and performance history. You have a unique craft combining poetry with song. I am doing the same with a local poet in Seattle, WA - David Paul Mesler. David has composed songs to Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, e.e. cummings, Carl Sandburg and others. To listen to some tracks, feel free to visit the Myspace.com music site entitled "American Poetry in Song." Thanks again for your insights on the Arts NW Conference.

darren eddy olson - Wednesday, September 1st, 2004 2:47 PM
well, seems you and i have some commonalities, being you love fiddling, poetry, and the story through simple sonic sounds. oh yeah the other is alaska. never been there, but i have read alot of books from there or about there. alaska and fiddles are my theme. but im still in minnesota, listening to our local legend here in bemidji-jim miller. stay close to the earth unless you have wings, and follow the muse. much thanks

Chloris Noelke-Olson - Friday, August 20th, 2004 8:47 PM
Hey Ken. Just sent your 'Suffering Democracy' poem (along w/your web address) out to a huge list of friends who have commented on it quite favorably (of course). I hope more than a few of them come to your site and start ordering your great CD's & books.

It was great fiddlin' with you and Jordan the other night. (The ribs were also good)

"May your bow never warp and the hairs not fall out. May your pegs never slip nor bridge or post fall flat. And may you not forget that tune just as you are about to play it."

Freedom - Sunday, June 13th, 2004 5:06 PM
Good runnin' into you at the festival. Hope to see you around sometime in the near future. Burn some strings.

Deb (Indiana) - Saturday, May 22nd, 2004 11:31 AM
It's been so long since I've seen you! Hope that we can manage to get our paths to cross again in the near future! Super fiddling, we love your tunes here in Bloomington Ken!

Todd Hoke - Monday, May 3rd, 2004 9:25 PM
I remember a few years ago Ken was on a panel at a Folk Alliance shindig and he was talking about how he ran his "business" and pulled a raggedy old notebook out of his hip pocket and said "here are ALL my contacts - right here" and now just lookat him with a fancy shiny website. Can fiddling poets exist in the era of evildoers and axises of evil(s?) I don't know, but I will say that of all the fiddling poets out there, Ken's my #1 fav-o-rite. He sweats iambic pentameter.

Seretta Martin - Tuesday, April 20th, 2004 9:59 PM
I don't know how one man can do so much. You are a whirlwind Ken. I am getting excited about meeting and interviewing you at the ITV Enstructional Television studio for Border Voices Poetry Project on Friday. You are amazing! I am reminded so much of my brother-in-law who is a musician in Sisters Oregon. Doug William. He collect stringed instruments and has some very nice ones. Perhaps you have met him when you passed through that area of the country?
See you on Friday!

Tommy Ross (Lion's Roar Editor) - Wednesday, February 18th, 2004 7:55 AM

Ben Stewart - Thursday, February 5th, 2004 6:29 PM
Thank you so much for making Florida Southern a stop on your tour. I really enjoyed listening to your work both in class and at the evening session. It was great to hear things from a person so interesting. It would be great if you made this a stop again. Thanks again.
